How these numbers are measured

Every figure here is the EPA rating that appears on the window sticker. City and highway ratings come from standardized lab tests; combined is a weighted mix (55% city, 45% highway). Numbers for 1984 to 2007 vehicles were restated by the EPA in 2008 so every year uses the same yardstick. Your own mileage depends on driving style, terrain, temperature and load.
